Alisha Marie is a digital pioneer and lifestyle influencer-turned-entrepreneur who has amassed over 21 million followers across her socials and counting. Having gotten her start on YouTube in 2008 at just 15 years old, Alisha has become virally recognized for her vibrant personality and uncontrived style, as she continues to inspire and motivate growing creatives in the industry and is widely regarded as the creator community’s “big sister.”
Throughout her near 15-year run in the industry, Alisha’s name has become synonymous with vanguardism of the modern-day, multihyphenate digital creator, as she has successfully parlayed her massive online following to dominating industries outside of social media, including podcasting, beauty, fashion design, public speaking, and more. She currently co-hosts the Webby Award-winning podcast, “Pretty Basic,” which has amassed over 70-million downloads and featured celebrity guests such as Ashley Tisdale, Dixie D’Amelio, Meghan Trainor, Kiernan Shipka, and more. Alisha’s addictive content and charisma have propelled her into a wider realm of entrepreneurship, becoming one of the most valuable figures to work with top brands for partnerships and campaigns including Marc Jacobs, Tarte Cosmetics, BMW, Amazon, Hollister, and her own “CASETiFY x Alisha Marie” collection, to name just a few. In addition to her work with established brands, Alisha has also successfully developed her own direct-to-consumer fashion line, Parallel Apparel, with her sister, Ashley Nichole. Offering an inclusive line of elevated basics designed for people of all sizes and identities, Parallel Apparel is ethically sourced, locally made in Los Angeles, and hand-designed by Alisha and Ashley to make wearers feel unapologetic, empowered, and sexy as-is with a commitment to quality and thoughtful design for a versatile and effortless finish. In 2017, Variety honored Alisha as one of the most prominent digital stars in their ‘Young Hollywood Impact Report,’ recognizing her ability “to reach every facet of the digital community: tech, beauty, life, etc.”
In 2018, 10 years following her YouTube beginnings, Alisha announced to her fans that she would be taking a break from the internet and spending some much-needed time offline. This sort of digital hiatus for a full-time creator was uncharted territory; at the time, no other creator had ever been so candid about the state of their anxiety and burnout, and Alisha became the first to speak up about how creating back-to-back content for millions of viewers was affecting her wellbeing and the importance of prioritizing mental health. Today, Alisha continues to focus on releasing high-quality content that she is truly passionate about, in addition to advocating for mental health awareness, including participating in a 2020 VidCon panel for “Mental Health on Screen: Self Care for All of Us,” and partnering with the JED Foundation, a nonprofit that protects emotional health and aids in suicide prevention for America’s teens and young adults.
